Caulking or Re-Caulking

Tub Re-Grouting — Applying Sealant in Richmond, VA

Works When:

This service is called for when caulk is mildewed, cracked or missing. You may also need to consider re-caulking when hairline cracks appear in wall joints where grout wasn’t properly caulked.

Caulk is a non-structural, physical compound that provides an airtight, watertight, or non-porous seal. The seal or closure made by caulk is used to prevent something, such as air, water, gas, liquid, or steam, from entering or escaping between two other materials.

Caulk is used to seal joints or spaces between those two materials whether they are similar in substance or not.

Perfect for:

Tub Surrounds, Shower Stalls, Floors, Countertops, Etc.

The Caulking Process

In our process of re-caulking, we remove all the old caulk. Once all the old caulk has been removed we then spray all the lines with a mold and mildew killer. We then deep scrub all the grout lines to make sure we kill all the mold and mildew that may have behind the old caulk or that may still exist. We let the line dry and then apply fresh caulk line where needed. The line is sponged to leave a smooth surface for water to roll off of.

The Grout Geeks® use Polyseamseal® Tub & Tile Ultra Sealant, formulated with BioGuard™, an antimicrobial agent to help prevent unsightly stains and odor caused by mold & mildew growth on the caulk surface. Polyseamseal Tub & Tile Ultra Sealant is a latex caulk contains silicone for added flexibility and durability. Polyseamseal® is used on all white, clear and biscuit colored caulk lines. On all colored caulks we use Superior® Adhesives acrylic caulk with moisture and mildew resistances.
